PHOENIX CIRCLE FOUNDATION is an Oklahoma non-profit  501(c)3) corporation. Our mission is to enhance the lives of  children and adults in our community by promoting educational, charitable, and cultural events and providing programs, materials and resources.   In accomplishing our mission, the Foundation will:

·         Promote education in all areas, including health and wellness, the environment, the arts and humanities;
·         Sponsor and promote educational, charitable, and cultural events and opportunities for children and families.
·         Partner with local public schools, Head Start programs and other social programs by providing materials and resources and sponsoring activities.
·         Raise funds, apply for grants, and distribute monies, resources and programs to further our purpose.

Our Board and supporters firmly believe that the ARTS matter to communities like Watonga by providing            *  Economic Development Opportunities
                            * Well-rounded educational programs for our young people
      *   Preserved heritage and culture
                             * Enhanced quality of life

Our 2015  End of Year Annual Report is available at “watonganews.blogspot.com”.  Our goal for 2016 is to establish an Arts Center in Watonga where children and adults can engage in creative activities and enjoy the benefits of the ARTS.

This year the Foundation was able to award the first annual Arts Scholarship to a high school senior, thanks to the support of community donors.  The $250 scholarship went to Katarina Larson, who intends to continue her education in the field of study of the Arts.   After graduation this month, Ms. Larson will be participating in an internship at LucasFilm’s Industrial Light & Magic Studio in Marin, California.

 Phoenix Circle Foundation continues to strive to work with community partners for the benefit of our young people.   Anyone (individuals and businesses) can help us achieve our mission by a tax-deductible donation, or by attending our Liquid ART paint parties,  Oklahoma House Concerts, Wood-fired Pizza Dinner fundraisers, and ART for FUNd$  © opportunities.   For More Information, see our Facebook  Pages and “LIKE” us, or call Linda Barrett at 580-623-4269.

         "My Politic" is an indie Americana trio hailing from Nashville, Tennessee and currently on the house concert circuit as they make their way back home to Nashville.  Their music has drawn comparisons to songwriters like Townes van Zandt and John Prine and to contemporaries, The Milk Carton Kids and The Avett Brothers. [If you've seen the Milk Carton Kids on Austin City Limits, you'll definitely want to come see My Politic.]  This is their only stop in Oklahoma on this tour!!
 Tight harmonies, intelligent songwriting and their obvious passion for live performance have become integral to their identity. Their sound is steeped in tradition, and while their stories are modern in content their themes touch on all that is timeless.  My Politic's latest record release was titled “Anchor” and is available wherever music is sold, and once you hear them you'll want one of their CD's.

Check these guys out on youtube, then come see them live at the CHAPARRAL RETREAT & GUESTHOUSE.  We are one mile from ROMAN NOSE STATE PARK, so you can spend some time in the park and then come relax and experience live music in a unique setting at the Retreat.  We are excited to have these talented musicians stop here on their way home in Nashville and are looking forward to showing them some Oklahoma hospitality!   Come on out and bring a friend!!!
OKLAHOMA HOUSE CONCERTS are sponsored by Phoenix Circle Foundation , a charitable and educational nonprofit organization that supports and promotes the arts and arts education.  Though the local school curriculum offers a band program, it does not offer any other arts education and that need is being filled by the private sector.  The Chaparral Retreat has become a popular stop for independent musicians touring their way across the country or region.  The Chaparral Retreat provides them with lodging and meals in exchange for a short concert.  They basically play for the love of music and tips!
 Chaparral Retreat has hosted Brian Pounds (former contestant on "The Voice"), Nathan Brown (former Oklahoma Poet Laureate), Caroline Cotter, Merry Ellen Kirk,  Gentry Counce, and Watonga's local songbird, Katie Ballew, along with Kelly Ray Potts,  to name a few.  The local Liberty Theatre brings in some great bluegrass musicians, and Oklahoma House Concerts provides a different experience on several levels.  Phoenix Circle Foundation is a qualified 501(c)(3) organization, so your donations are tax-deductible.  YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE in our community by attending these House Concerts and other fundraising events, or by making a monetary donation mailed to PO Box 427, Watonga, OK 73772.  We also accept donations via Paypal at phoenixcir@yahoo.com.
